CONCUSSION RECOGNITION TOOL (CRT)

The Zurich Concussion panel also produced the Concussion Recognition Tool as a quick sideline test to assess if a concussion was likely.

It includes visible clues, signs and symptoms and the Modified Maddocks Question test of memory function.

Several RED FLAGS denoting immediate removal from the field and further assessment are noted:

• Neck pain
• Increasing confusion or irritability
• Repeated vomiting
• Seizure or convulsion
• Spinal injury symptoms such as weakness or tingling
• Deteriorating conscious state
• Severe or increasing headache
• Unusual behaviour
• Double vision

CONSIDER IMMEDIATE AMBULANCE TRANSPORT TO HOSPITAL  FOR ANY RED FLAG
