Anatomy of the Spinal Cord and NeckSafe principles
In order to understand the acute management of spinal cord injury, it is important to review the anatomy of the spine and the pathology behind the damage that can occur.
By understanding how the spinal cord nerves operate normally, and how damage can occur to them and the bones of the spine (the vertebra), we can begin to understand the ways in which the damaged spinal cord presents to the first responder as symptoms and specific physical signs.
