During this course will cover these important areas:

•Prevention, both Primary and Secondary, which are essential for decreasing the incidence of this devastating condition.
•Recognition of the potential for spinal-cord injury to exist and the circumstances where it most often occurs
•The Anatomy and physiology of the spine and spinal cord, so as to better understand how these normally function and the results of injury
•You will learn the importance of initial resuscitation steps as well as how to complete a neurological evaluation of an injured person.
•Evaluation entails an understanding of the signs and symptoms of spinal cord injury

The management of spinal-cord injury will include learning about the importance of immobilisation of the injured person’s spine,  and the use of various pieces of equipment to maintain that immobilisation before and during transport to a higher level of care.

Assessment exercises throughout the course will test your knowledge.
