Waverley College will host the first HeadSafe Community Concussion Forum in its Performing Arts Centre on 16^th June 2015.

As part of Randwick District Rugby Union Club’s community engagement, the seminar will showcase the latest concussion research featuring the club which is trialling a unique X Patch Biosensor worn behind the player’s ear to measure impacts.

The evening will also provide a question and answer forum for parents, coaches, medical staff and the community featuring a selection of leading players from the area.

The session will provide an update from all sporting codes and information for players and parents relevant to schools, districts, amateur, professional and elite levels.

Concussion is continually featuring in the news and social media, and this seminar will provide a key community education opportunity to assist all those involved understand the issues and work to keep our sports safe.

The USA Center for Disease Control in Atlanta (CDC) estimates there are 4 million head injuries in American sport annually, and recent research in Australia by Prof. Carolyn Finch shows a 30-40% annual increase in Victorian hospital presentations for concussion.
